“Diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and leadership have always been areas I have valued and done my best to learn more about at every opportunity. I feel that in the world we live in, it is especially important to understand where the people around us are coming from in order to best communicate to and learn from one another. I have participated in programs such as LeaderShape, a diversity workshop sponsored by Target, HAVEN training, SafeZone training, and I have learned a lot about the students that comprise the Carolina student body through my position in New Student and Parent Programs. I thoroughly enjoy opportunities such as these that allow me learn about others and their perspectives. I feel that diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and leadership and important, especially when working with others in a University setting, and I am excited about the opportunity to gain more knowledge about each of these subjects.”
